From the Chair

Welcome back to everyone after the festive season! I hope you have all had a restful and refreshing break and are feeling inspired for the year ahead.
A special thank you to all our members for a record number of image submissions for January. This wonderful response reflects not only your enthusiasm and engagement, but also the positive momentum created by our drive to welcome new members. Even more encouraging is the noticeable rise in the overall standard and quality of the photographs submitted. It is truly exciting to see how much our club continues to grow creatively.
Our members certainly did not sit still over the summer break, thanks to Geora’s enthusiasm and boundless energy in arranging multiple outings. These outings produced some truly imaginative and striking images, and it is always inspiring to see the unique perspectives that emerge when we shoot together. We are planning an outing in mid-February to support the March theme of Transport, further details will be circulated by WhatsApp.
I would also like to extend sincere thanks to Coral for making our new name tags and printing the theme list. Your effort and contribution are greatly appreciated.
Finally, a reminder that we still have a vacancy for a Vice-Chair. If you have an interest in supporting the club in this portfolio, please do consider stepping forward, your involvement would be warmly welcomed.
Let us look forward to another year of creativity, participation, and shared enjoyment of photography.

Photo Walks, Outings and Suggestions

Geora has created a whirlwind of activity with regular invitations to photowalks and specialised creative outings!
Thanks to everyone who has participated and produced some very special and individual images.
A special thanks to Clive Steward for sharing his garden, and his passion, to create an appreciation of the local bird and wildlife in our backyard “Nature on your doorstep”.
If you have ideas to improve any aspect of club life, please use Strictly whatsapp group to engender interest and spark creativity.

Themes 2026 – don’t lose points

It is in your own best interest to pay close attention to the detailed comments in the themes section when working on your monthly images.

Judges can mark down, or disqualify an image if it contravenes the guidelines given.

February – Solitude – Open Monochrome – manipulation allowed. Colour images will be disqualified

March – Transport – Open – (colour or mono) – manipulation allowed- Showcase transportation in all its forms

Grow our Club – Vacancies

We are actively recruiting members who can add to the clubs skill set (we need educationalists and organisers as well as talented photographers) so if you know someone, whether they are a seasoned photographer or just starting out, please consider introducing them to our club. It’s the perfect place to grow skills, share your work, and connect with fellow photo enthusiasts. Just invite them to attend any of our club meetings for the tiny fee of R30 – which gives them the right to vote and coffee!

The summer holidays meant a short break in the Salon program, February has 2 and then March has 5, including the 10TH PSSA NATIONAL SALON with 2 interesting categories;
