From the Editor
June 2025
Dear Members,
I’ve given our hard working Chairperson a reprieve from penning a few words as we recalibrate our bodies to the winter chills. And also I’m keeping the newsletter brief – scores are below, and the winning pictures are already up on Facebook, Flicker and Instagram.
Regular communication over WhatsApp seems to be a better way of keeping in regular touch. Which leaves me more time to concentrate on the Eduction, Promotional and Recruitment sides of my portfolio.
Warm regards,
Margaret

Theme for July – Nightscape
For Nightscapes – Jon Kerrin has suggested we consider getting to a high view point for a wide angle. These are just a few local spots easy to get to.
• For the fitter members. Hike part or all the way up Elsie’s Peak and capture the car light streaks between Glencairn and Simon’s Town.
• Boyes Drive has some nice view spots looking down onto Muizenberg .
• Also at the top of Ou Kaapse Weg looking down toward Tokai.
• Puddle reflections at night, especially with lit shop windows.
• and for those who want stay at home – another nice option (with all the rain around) is to capture light refracting in rain droplets at night (think of a scene like gazing through a window full of rain droplets).
The Judging Committee have indicated Astro is a separate discipline. So if you are attending the Astro Workshop on Sunday your masterpieces can be submitted in open digital.
I’d like to say a huge thank you for all the inspiration and the workshop to Jon Kerrin. You can follow him on www.instagram.com/wherethelight_is
