MESSAGE FROM YOUR CHAIRMAN
I am writing this article the morning after Interclub – just to make sure everything was fresh in my memory.
Overall I think we did very well – coming 4th this year – which, if my poor memory serves me – is better than last year. The final scores were:
1. Tygerberg Photographic Society – 1705
2. Cape Town Photographic Society – 1700
3. Tafelberg Fotografieklub – 1639
4. Fish Hoek Photographic Society – 1635
5. Helderberg Photographic Society – 1617
6. Creative Camera Club – 1603
7. Hermanus Photographic Society – 1603
8. Paarl Photographic Club – 1581
9. Swartland Fotografieklub – 1566
10. Witzenberg Photographic Society – 1552
11. Durbanville Fotografieklub – 1524
In all there were 169 photos submitted by 129 photographers
I want to thank all those who made the evening so successful. Keith, Peter and Jane, Derek and Jorge worked hard to get things motivated and moving, especially when hosting the event defaulted to us after Worcester and Weskus declined to take on the task.
Special thanks must go to our Master of Ceremonies Lorne, as he was fantastic. He handled everything so calmly and smoothly. We all had a programme to work to, but it was up to each person as to how we were to carry out our designated roles. Lorne, more than anyone, had to ‘fly by the seat of his pants’, and he did so very professionally. More than once he had to quickly keep the flow of the programme going when a mistake was made.
But I feel the biggest thanks must go to Coert Venter, who was appointed project manager by the Western Cape Photographic Forum. He was brilliant – there is no other word for it. He never appeared on your monitor but he was involved in every aspect of the evening – even more so as he had to carry many of the responsibilities that were normally assigned to the hosting club.
I am looking forward to next when Tygerberg will be the host, and we can sit back and just ‘smile and wave, boys – smile and wave’
Geoff
